It is a day of petal to the metal as most of the time consuming cutting has been done

FEBRUARY'S WORKSHOP

BORDERED DIAMONDS
This quilt was inspired by a Kaffe Fassett Design.  However, I have simplified the directions by using a special ruler and some other tricks.  It is beautiful in Kaffe fabrics, however students have made it in other fabrics with desirable results.
One day workshop
Intermediate level (due to bias cuts)

Scrap Queen Workshop:
This workshop is a fun day of using scraps!  I review what makes a scrappy quilt work, ways to approach scrap quilts, and easy ways of organizing your scraps so that they actually get used.  I will have lots of examples of scrappy quilts I have made for inspiration. There are 2 different formats I teach – one for those wanting a specific project to work on and one for those wanting to explore different ideas for scrap quilts.
1. I have a scrap quilt that I have designed that I like to teach, so there is no extra charge for a pattern.  It has 16 patches, hourglass units, flying geese and shaded 4-patches.Lots of learning and tips for easy ways of making these units.                                             OR

2. This is a scrap workshop that is based on different ideas of how to use strips to make wonderful scrap quilts.  It is a class where you get to try one block of several different quilts.  You will not be working on one project and go home with something that needs to be finished.  You will go home with a folder full of ideas and inspiration for how to use the stash of strips and squares that you have!

BUTTERFLY TOWN
Based on pattern of the same name.  This quilt is beautiful in Batiks or Kaffe fabrics.  To assist students I have created templates to help with auditioning of fabrics, the placement & construction.

Using Strips

by

Kelly DuMaresq

Diamonds in the Sky is a brilliant high
contrast quilt. The Corner Beam blocks used throughout the design give you an alternating diamond illusion that simply radiates beauty. While we made our Diamonds in the Sky project with a medley of bright fat quarters for our stars, you could use 6” strips or scraps of bright fabric to make this a dynamite stash-buster project.
Details
Project size: 58” x 70”
Block size: 9”
Required tool: Corner Beam
Scrap fabrics + background + binding

COLOUR VIE LEAF PRINTS
In this class we will spend the day making leaf prints which will be ready to put into a quilt, table runner or placemats or any other project of your choice.  We will use a pigment system called Colour Vie.  These pigments were developed by Gunnel Hag and are readily available through her from her Toronto location.  The paints will be included in the kit fee for this class and information will be provided if you wish to later purchase your own supplies. These pigments have a transparent quality, and alter the hand of the fabric very little, leaving it still very soft.  An added bonus is they clean up easily with water.
One Day Class
There will be a Kit Fee $15.00 which will cover the use of the dyes as well as some other related materials.
Class needs to be scheduled when there are leaves on the trees as the prints are made from real leaves (May to early October)
Any level of expertise. No sewing on the day, just creating the prints
.

FALLING LEAVES
This is my own design created for Cantik Batiks.  Pattern can be made into quilt as shown or there is also a pattern for placemats/table runner.

Doubly Charmed by Studio 180

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

-------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What do you call a pattern containing two charming companion quilts? Doubly Charmed, of course! You’ll use the same set of 5” squares for both quilts. It’s like magic! You’ll cut the center beams from the squares for the first quilt and then you’ll use the cutaways for the side triangles in the second. Two beautiful quilts out of one set of squares. Enchanting!
Details
Project sizes: 40” x 48” and 47” x 59”

Block sizes: 8” and 9” finished
Required tools: Corner Beam, V Block, and
